Sessions Court adjourns hearing

MARGAO: The power rebate scam case filed by the Crime Branch against then power minister and others, which came up for hearing before Additional District and Sessions Judge, Margao Vincent Silva on Thursday was further adjourned to March 31.

The Crime Branch has filed a charge sheet regarding a corruption case against a former power minister, along with two industrial units and four others in connection with the alleged Rs 4.52 crore power rebate scam. 

The case is also against former chief electrical engineer who has expired now. All have been charged under Section 409, 420, 465, 468, 471 read with Section 120-b of IPC and under Section 13(1) d(i) and 13(1) d(ii) read with Section 13(2) of Prevention of Corruption Act for alleged  criminal breach of trust, cheating, forgery, conspiracy and criminal misconduct by a public servant.

Public Prosecutor and other defence advocates were present in the court along with a few alleged accused. The matter is posted now on March 31 for trial evidence.
