Sewage ‘released’ into sea at Sinquerim; health dept, Candolim VP officials inspect

MAPUSA: Directorate of Health along with Candolim panchayat held a joint inspection at Sinquerim beach after a video went viral on social media in which the person who took the video claimed that a restaurant located at Sinquerim beach is allegedly releasing sewage into the sea.
Video shows that a pipe is left open at the beach and a pipe is buried into sand which is further discharging water into the sea. The pipe attached to the wall was also kept hidden with black plastic cover.
However during the joint inspection, the concern officials of Health department and Candolim panchayat found that there was no sewage was released in open nor any outlet pipe was noticed front the premises of the said restaurant Palm shade left out into the sea.
A report was prepared by the Health Officer of Primary Health Centre Candolim Dr Roshan Nazareth stating that septic tank and soak pit of the restaurant was located in front of the restaurant and 200 meters away from the beach.
