MAPUSA: Saligao MLA Jayesh Salgaonkaralong with NH 17 Highway Division Executive Engineer Mayekar, Assistant Engineer and Junior Engineer Shrinivas, Vice President MVR, MVR Officials, Panch members of Guirim panchayat and affected residents whose houses along the highway are demarcated for Demolition for expansion of Highway held urgent site inspection of NH 17 at Guirim on Saturday.
Jayesh Salgaonkar informed that Notices are served on affected people whose houses are demarcated for demolition for highway expansion stating to vacate the houses within seven days without making provision of their rehabilitation. These affected people were promised that they will be given alternate site to build houses however now since the notice is served to vacate the houses within seven days, people are grasped with a worry that where they will be shifted and incase if they rent a houses then how long the Government will it take to allot new land”.
Salgaonkar further informed that revenue department and PWD department have already surveyed land for rehabilitation. “Also since we have provided all support for the expansion of highway we request the Government not to displace the families unless Government makes provision of alternate accommodation or land as they have promised and I have also requested MVR not to move with expansion until rehabilitation is complete,” he said.
