MARGAO: Officials of the sewerage department have denied that its underground line is responsible for the contamination of the drinking water wells at Sirvodem ward.

The officials maintained that the underground sewerage line passing through the wells have not yet been commissioned and hence ruled out the possibility of the sewerage water from the underground line finding its way into the wells. The officials made the clarification at the monsoon preparedness meeting called by the Margao Municipal Council on Monday when Chairperson Arthur D’Silva sought an explanation from the sewerage department on the contamination.
