MAPUSA: Calangute police busted a sex racket by arresting two pimps and rescuing two girls.
In a late night raid on Friday at Baga, police busted a sex racket by arresting a lady pimp Subhagi Salon, a resident of Verem and Rishi Agarwal, a native of Kolkata, who had come to procure the victims girls.
Police also rescued two girls both natives of Maharashtra in the presence of Andrea Pereira, an NGO representative. Both the girls were produced before the Sub Divisional Magistrate, who sent them to Protective Home at Merces.
PI Jivba Dalvi said that he received information about the illegal activity in Baga area. Accordingly, a team headed by him reached the site where the two victim girls were noticed by the police staff.
Police have arrested the accused persons under Sections 370, 370(3) of IPC and Section 4, 5 and 7 of Immoral Trafficking (Prevention) Act.
PI Dalvi is investigating the case.
The raiding team included PSI Videsh Pilgaonkar, Kirtidas Gaude, Sitaram Naik, lady Constable Vinanti Tilve and Constable Arjun Kalangutkar.
