MARGAO, SEPT 23
Exactly four years since the South Goa Planning and Development Authority (SGPDA) invited objections for the Outline Development Plan for Margao, the PDA has finally published the ODP after government approval.
Copies of the ODP are available for inspection at the office of the South Goa Planning and Development Authority, Margao and the office of Senior Town Planner, Town Planning department, Margao.
The PDA had on September 6, 2006 had invited objections to the revised Development Plan for Margao. The plan was re-notified for the Margao Planning Area on August 23, 2007, inviting public suggestions and objections.
On September 30, 2008, the government returned the plan back to the SGPDA with directions to modify and alter the plan following huge protests from members of the public.
The Margao ODP had kicked up a bitter row after citizens under the banner of Citizens Welfare Committee and professionals trongly opposed the plan on grounds that the PDA did not comply with the mandatory procedure.
