Shallom decided to back out of the fray after a meeting with his supporters held on Wednesday night. Confirming the development, Shallom, who had covered lot of ground since the last three months as part of his plan to throw his hat in the ring for the Curtorim seat, said he is not contesting the ZP poll. In the meantime, Clafacio is bracing up to contest the coming poll from Curtorim constituency. He is believed to have had a meeting with his supporters from Macazana and has called another meeting with supporters and workers from Curtorim and Sao Jose de Areal before he files his nomination papers early next week.
It is learnt that Clafacio has sought the blessings of Curtorim MLA Reginaldo Lourenco and also contacted Velim MLA Benjamin D’Silva seeking his support for his decision to contest from Curtorim.
“After my Guirdolim seat was reserved for women (ST), my supporters from Macazana, Curtorim and Sao Jose de Areal have asked me to contest from neighbouring Curtorim. I have accepted their request and will hold a final meeting later this week before filing the papers”, he added.
