Shetye wants closed complaint on dual citizenship to be reopened

Complaint filed in October 2014 had named Aires among others and was closed by Panjim police

PANJIM: Social activist Kashinath Shetye has complained to Director General of Police and others on the closure of the dual citizenship case against Superintendent of Police Allen D’Sa, Police Inspector Edwin Colaco, advocate Aires Rodrigues and others.
Shetye has sent the same complaint to Anti-Corruption Branch, Crime Branch and Old Goa Police Station stating that Panjim Police Inspector Siddhant Shirodkar had illegally closed the FIR against those named though the matter is still pending before the court.
Panjim Police recently closed the FIR in which one SP and a Police Inspector were charged for holding dual citizenship. Rodrigues also figured in that complaint. Goa Police on the other hand filed a FIR against Rodrigues on January 29 for holding dual citizenship.
Shetye questioned how Old Goa Police have registered an FIR against advocate Aires Rodrigues on January 29, 2016 while Panjim Police have already closed one case on the same matter. Shetye has urged the authorities to investigate the conduct of the police officers which appears to help fellow police colleague after registering the offense.
Shetye asked that the case registered at Old Goa Police Station be handed to CBI with the first complaint of the Shetye which was filed at Panjim Police Station attached to it.
In his earlier FIR Shetye had urged that action against those holding dual citizenship be taken after investigation as this is a threat to the nation.
