PANJIM: After Carnival, the annual Shigmo float parade will also be held across three places — Panjim, Mapusa and Ponda, from April 3.
In view of COVID-19 pandemic, the traditional event is restricted to only three places. The parade will be held in Panjim on April 3 and in Mapusa on April 4. The date for Ponda event is yet to be announced.
Minister for Tourism Manohar Ajgaokar on Friday held a meeting to finalise the schedule for annual Shigmo parade.
In Panjim, the parade will be also held on the traditional route along the 18 June Road.
Panjim Mayor Uday Madkaikar said that the government had initially decided to hold parade only in Mapusa and Ponda; however, it was only after intervention of Panjim MLA Atanasio Monserrate that event is also scheduled in Panjim.
