Shiroda Tour: CM targets Marcaim MLA again on free water scheme

Says was appreciated by people for sacking former PWD minister from Cabinet

PONDA: A verbal war over taking credit of free water scheme continued as Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant once again targeted Marcaim MLA and former PWD minister Sudin Dhavalikar during his Shiroda Constituency tour, on Saturday.

Chief Minister Sawant said, “I am appreciated by the people for sacking former PWD minister Dhavalikar from the Cabinet. Sacking him from the Cabinet was a good decision.” 

“The Marcaim MLA was holding the PWD Portfolio for 20 years. He did nothing for the public and now he is telling he was about to give free water after I launched the scheme for Goans,” the Chief Minister said. 

Sawant was speaking after laying of the foundation stone for Rs 12 crore development projects such as Shiroda Market Complex with 40 shops, Community Hall and Panchayat Ghar. 

He also inaugurated Shri Krishna Temple Hall in the presence of Shiroda MLA Subhash Shirodkar, former South Goa MP Narendra Sawaikar, Shiroda BJP President Suraj Naik, Sarpanch Ameet Shirodkar and Zilla Panchayat member Deepak Naik Borkar.

“So far 6,000 post are advertised and remaining 4,000 will be advertised soon. Goa was dependent on other States but now slowly becoming self-reliant and started exporting 20 per cent of vegetables produce. Borim new bridge and bypass road would be priority of the government and it is also in the list of national highway. Plots distribution process in Panchawati Industrial Estate is started,” informed the Chief Minister.

He also laid foundation stone for Rs 5 crore road construction works in Panchwadi Panchayat jurisdiction and Rs 2 crore water pipeline project at Bethora besides development works in Borim Panchayat.

The Chief Minister said, “The government has launched 165 schemes for Goans.” 

He appealed to Goans to come one step forward to take the benefits of schemes and approach Swayampurna Mitra every panchayat and become self-reliant. 

He said, “Rs 10 lakh subsidy is given to IT and other engineers for start-up projects which they should take advantage and generate employment while Rs 2 lakh is provided for the students who want to take up technical education.”  

Sawant also gave letter of government recognition to Divyang Asray School at Shiroda working for special children since past two years and assured to solve every problem faced by such schools in the State.
