PANJIM: In a setback to the Shiv Sena Goa unit that is trying to build its base ahead of the Assembly elections, the party’s Vice-President Rakhi Prabhudessai Naik resigned from the party on Friday.

“Here I end my four-year-long association with Shiv Sena. I have sent my formal resignation from the post of vice-president and primary membership of the party. Taken most important decision on the auspicious day of Dussehra,” said Naik.

Naik, who was the party’s spokesperson, said she had sent her resignation letter to party president Jitesh Kamat and observer MP Sanjay Raut. It may be recalled that Raut was recently in Goa and had announced that the party would be contesting 20 plus seats.

Rakhi said that she resigned after she found that the Shiv Sena is not serious party and is doing lip service in Goa.
