Shoppers scramble on streets, disrupt traffic at Chaudi

Traffic along the highway at Chaudi was disrupted throughout Saturday, as Ganesh festival shoppers scrambled on the streets to make last minute purchases on the eve of the festival.
The disorganised traffic in the town was further compounded with the Saturday bazaar, as several motorists parked their vehicles haphazardly in and around the highway, while Saturday bazaar vendors occupied the roadside spaces.
The highway traffic that passes through the heart of Chaudi town encountered frequent traffic jams during the day, inconveniencing motorists and passengers alike.
The few policemen present at the site were totally helpless to tackle the situation, due to the heavy rush of people looking to make last minute purchases for Ganesh festivities.
At one point, traffic was stranded for nearly two hours in the morning, with motorists desperately trying to squeeze past Chaudi town.
