valpoi: The students of Shrimati High School Velguem have achieved great success in the Kala Utsav organized by Goa Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan (GSSA), an initiative of Department of School Education and Literacy, Union Ministry of Education.
Every year, GSSA organizes competitions for the students of Secondary and Higher Secondary at the District level.Those who secure places at District level get the chances to present at the State level competitions.The first prize winners from each competition then get the chance to represent themselves at the National level.
Kala Utsav was launched in 2015, to promote arts in education, by nurturing and showcasing the artistic talent of school students in the country.
This year, in the Visual Art 3D competition, Sakshi Hari Ghadi won the first place in the female category. In Indigenous toys, Pawan Krishnanath Chari won the 1st place in the male category and Sidhi Namdev Gawas won the second place in the female category. In Visual Art 2D, Ganraj Laxmidas Chari won the second place in male category whereas Antawiksha Anand Ghadi won the fourth place.
In the Performing Arts category, under Traditional Folk Dance, Sahil Sudesh Priolkar won the first place in the male category whereas Sindiya Jagganath Ghadi won the third place.
Students achieved success in Visual Art under the guidance of Art teacher Yogesh Vishnu Kauthankar and in Performing Art (Cultural), Vitthal Babal Shelke.
