PANJIM: North Goa sitting MP Shripad Naik, laughed-off the UPA’s move to pass the Anti-Corruption Bill (Lokpal Bill) in the last session of the Lok Sabha, earlier this year.
“For the full terms, 2004 and 2009 they allowed their minister and MPs to swindle crores of rupees through scams like 2G Spectrum, Coalgate, Commonwealth Games but when they realised voters are agitated they decide to bring anti-corruption bill. Is it not a joke?” Shripad said, while addressing a huge gathering at Usgao in Valpoi constituency in the presence of Industries Minister Mahadev Naik and St Andre MLA Vishnu Wagh.
Wagh was critical of the Congress government at the Centre and urged the people to vote for the BJP and send two MPs from Goa to strengthen the hands of Narendra Modi.
Speaking for the first time on his indifferences with Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, Wagh said, “Congress is now trying to make it an election issue but tell me one thing. There are fights between father and son that does not mean the son will leave the house.”
Industries minister Mahadev Naik that Shripad Naik would emerge victorious by a margin of over 50,000 votes. The minister also criticised for its effort to divide votes on religious lines.
“We have received tremendous response in the South as well which is dominated by minority community and hence Congress is now dividing people on communal lines,” he stated.
