BICHOLIM: Brushing aside the threat that his winning chances have lowered with Congress fielding the Bahujan Samaj candidate, BJP candidate for North Goa Shripad Naik said his victory prospects will not be affected by fielding another candidate from the Bahujan Samaj.
Speaking to Herald at Bicholim, Naik said his victory will not be affected by fielding another candidate of Bahujan Samaj. “Congress has tried the age-old politics of divide and rule, but it won’t succeed as the people are well aware whom to choose in the election,” added Naik.
“This is not for the first time that such things are happening, in 1998 he had fought against Pandurang Raut and managed to win with a margin of just 427 votes,” recalled Naik and added that “Since then BJP has gone too far in capturing the hearts of the masses, while the political graph of Ravi Naik has gone down.”
“There will be no threat as we already have 3.25 lakh members besides several others who support the party. Our base is strong and even MGP is with us,” said Naik.
“People should also realise that the mining problem was created by the Congress at the Centre. The State BJP tried to help those who suffered but at this point no help came from the Centre,” he added.
“We will demand for special status for the State and if need be we will ask to make amendments in the law so that Goa could be placed in the reservation brackets,” said Naik.
