PANJIM: Even though the authorities have maintained that the condition of union AYUSH Minister Shripad Naik is good, sources reveal he is still not out of danger due to severe ‘lung infection’.

Dr Shekhar Salkar, who is the clinical head of Manipal Hospital, said the AIIMS doctors examined Naik Tuesday morning and are satisfied with the line of treatment. “He is doing good and his health parameters are stable for now,” Salkar told media persons. He added that the Naik is much better than on Monday.
Sources said that the AIIMS doctors have ruled out shifting Naik to Delhi in the present condition. “Shifting him will be much more difficult and the team wants to take no risk,” sources revealed.
Salkar, however, maintains that Naik is stable and would need more time to recover. He said that the AIIMS team may leave Tuesday night and another doctor may arrive on Wednesday and stay for a longer period.
The second COVID-19 test report of Naik is awaited. “His first test was negative and if today’s test too comes negative he would be shifted to normal ICU and the treatment would be better,” he said.
Naik, who is also Minister of State for Defence, was also examined by Army doctor and all arrangements have been made for airlifting the minister to Delhi. A team of 9 doctors had arrived Monday evening to oversee his condition.
