PANJIM: The family of teen Siddhi Naik, whose partially nude body was found washed ashore on Calangute beach, has demanded a thorough investigation into her ‘killing’.
The deceased’s father Sandeep Naik on Wednesday submitted a letter to the Inspector General of Police and Deputy IGP demanding a proper investigation on lines with murder. He had filed a murder complaint at Calangute Police Station earlier this month.
“We will not allow the matter to be ignored. We want a thorough investigation and police should treat this case as murder,” he said, addressing the media at Azad Maidan thereafter.
The family is also expecting to make a representation to Chief Secretary Parimal Rai and Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Dean Dr S Bandekar regarding the alleged faulty postmortem.
The medical board committee of GMCH submitted its report suggesting that the police must investigate the manner of death. The medical board committee was constituted last week to revisit the medical findings into the death following a complaint by the victim’s father suspecting foul play.
The police have ruled out foul play claiming the teenager died due to drowning.
