Since 2016, Goa has 94 child right complaints registered with NCPCR: WCD

PANJIM: The Ministry of Women and Child Development (WCD) on Friday stated that that the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CPCR) had received 94 Goa-based complaints since 2016, out of which 13 had been disposed off.

The Goa CPRC received 80 complaints in that same time period, out of which 68 were disposed off.  

The information was read out by WCD Minister Smriti Irani, in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday.  

She provided the details of number of complaints registered with National CPCR and State CPCRs or suo moto taken up and inquiry completed during each of the last five years. 

The Minister added that regular follow-up is done for ensuring timely redressal of complaints and that the Commission also conducts inspection visits and research studies, based on those complaints received. 

 As per Section 13 of the Commission for Protection of Child Rights Act, 2005, NCPCR has been mandated to take inquire into cases of violation of child rights and recommend initiation of proceedings in such cases.
