PANJIM: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Crime Branch has filed a strong additional say in the court opposing the anticipatory bail plea of former Chief Minister Digambar Kamat in the illegal mining cases.
SIT submitted in the North Goa District and Sessions Court that during the course of investigation, statements of witnesses were recorded which brings to note how the then Chief Minister for the period 2007 to 2012 was involved in mining business and export of iron ore from Goa and how companies were harassed for not obliging him and fulfilling his expectations for being in a commanding position as the head of the State.
SIT has stated that Kamat had by wrong means acquired the land citing it was for construction of a road but it was for the construction of jetty for iron ore export.
