PANJIM: Union Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will visit Goa on Sunday, her first visit to the State after taking charge of the ministry.
The Minister will attend the flagging off of INSV Tarini of Navika Sagar Parikarma from the Naval Boat Pool of INS Mandovi at Verem on September 10 at 12.20 pm.
Sitharaman was inducted as Defence Minister in the Narendra Modi-led cabinet last Sunday. She took charge on Thursday morning.
She is the second full-fledged woman Defence Minister after then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
As INSV Tarini will be flagged off, a warning has been issued to owners of barges, passenger launches, ferry boats, tindels of fishing trawlers and operators of mechanised and non-mechanised crafts, including tourist boats, cruise boats, etc not to navigate in the area from 12 noon to 1.30pm.
