VALPOI: The situation in Surla village of Sattari taluk is still quite tense over the existence of liquor outlets there, even as North Goa Collector Levinson Martins has extended the shutdown of them for a period of 30 days from August 19 and the local panchayat has decided to take a final call on revoking the NOCs issued to the outlets on Monday.
“At our panchayat meeting, we discussed the issue of the liquor outlets operating in Surla and have decided to revoke the NOCs issued to all the outlets in the village,” Dongurli Thane Deputy Sarpanch Suryakant Gaonkar told Herald.
When contacted, Dongurli Thane Sarpanch Sarita Gaonkar said that the panchayat body would take the final decision on revoking the NOCs issued to all the eight liquor outlets at Surla, on Monday.
Meanwhile, the Excise Department has asked the Dongurli Thane Panchayat whether it has revoked or not the NOCs issued to the liquor outlets in Surla.
