Uttam Gaonkar (64), a resident of Soliem in Cacora, succumbed to injuries sustained in a scooter accident on February 19.
According to available information, Gaonkar was riding pillion on a scooter driven by his daughter when a stray dog suddenly darted onto the road, causing the rider to lose control of the vehicle. In the fall that followed, Gaonkar suffered severe head injuries.

He was initially rushed to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Cacora for immediate medical attention. Due to the seriousness of his condition, he was later referred to the District Hospital in Margao and subsequently shifted to Goa Medical College for advanced treatment.
Despite medical efforts, Gaonkar succumbed to his injuries at GMC Bambolim.
Further inquiries into the incident are underway.
