MARGAO: The South Goa Comunidades Forum (SGCF) has raised strong objections to the ongoing recruitment of new employees by the South Goa District Collectorate, given that initially it hadn’t accommodated the surplus and illegally appointed employees of the Office of Administrator of Comunidades South Zone.
SGCF has demanded that the District Collector halts the ongoing recruitment process until the issue of accommodating the surplus of the Administrator of Comunidades, South Goa is addressed.
“The Office of Administrator of Comunidades South Zone has been burdened with excess staff for many years, resulting in a crippling financial burden on the Comunidades’ finances. The Comunidades Commission had found that the appointment of 20 Lower Division Clerks (LDCs) was invalid as the appointments were made against non-sanctioned/ non-existent posts,” said SGCF President, Franky Monteiro.
Terming the exercise as a clear violation of regulations, the Forum pointed out that the South District Collectorate continues to recruit 147 new Class C employees without first accommodating the excess and illegally-appointed employees of the Office of Administrator of Comunidades South Zone.
“We had written to the Collector of South Goa on February 4, 2019 urging him to absorb the 20 LDCs in the Collectorate. In response, the then Collector Ajit Roy, while admitting that the employees were illegally appointed, had recommended their absorption in the Collectorate in a letter dated May 29, 2019,” said Monteiro.
“It is the moral and legal duty of the Collector of South Goa to rectify the wrongs committed in the past and give justice to the Comunidades of South Zone and the employees as well,” he added.
It may be recalled that after four years, the South Goa district Collectorate has decided to hold written tests for the 147 posts of Jr Stenographer, LDCs, Talathis and Multi-Tasking Staff, next week. SGCF has protested against this decision.
