VASCO: MLAs from South Goa have expressed their solidarity with the protesters against whom the FIRs have been registered for protesting against the double-tracking work in South Goa.

Navelim MLA Luizinho Faleiro and senior Congress leader said, “My views on this issue have appeared in the newspaper multiple times. I feel that this issue needs to be settled by a dialogue with the people and not by filing cases against those who are opposing”.

“Chief Minister has informed us that the Union Minister will come to Goa by December 15 and I have conveyed the same to my constituents and urged them to be patient. I am of the opinion that the FIR filed against some protesters should be withdrawn”, said Clafacio Dias, Cuncolim MLA.

Fisheries Minister and Velim MLA Filipe Neri Rodrigues said, “During my visit to Sao Jose De Areal, people had placed some demands before me which I forwarded to the Chief Minister and then those points were discussed with the cabinet. After discussions, the Chief Minister said he needs to take collective decision. Withdrawal of cases is one of the demands.”

“It is a part and parcel of the law and no one can take law into their hands. Tomorrow if I break the law then I too will have to face action like any other common man. Whenever there are agitations and movements, leaders of the movements most of the time get arrested which is a part of the movement. It is known that there is a demand before the Chief Minister to withdraw these FIRs. The Chief Minister, who is also holds the Home portfolio, will look into to this matter. Let the minister take a call on this issue”, Nilesh Cabral, Power Minister and Curchorem MLA said.
