PANJIM: Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) MLA Ramakrishna alias Sudin Dhavalikar in an intervention application filed before Speaker of the State Legislative Assembly has requested to restrain Deputy Chief Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar and Public Works Department Minister Deepak Pauskar from voting and participating in the Business of the House, pending disqualification petition filed against the duo.
The move come hours after High Court dismissed a petition filed by activist Sadanand Vaingankar challenging the order of the Speaker to merge MGP legislative wing led by Ajgaonkar and Pauskar into BJP. Court said that the Speaker will decide on the matter.
Dhavalikar had on May 3 filed a disqualification petition before the Speaker against his former party colleagues.
Ajgaonkar and Pauskar left MGP and joined BJP on March 27, 2019. Both were inducted in the Pramod Sawant-led Ministry the next day while Dhavalikar, then deputy chief
minister, was dropped.
“Restrain the respondents by an ad-interim order from participating and or voting in the ensuing Assembly session and further in other sessions, pending hearing and disposal of the present disqualification petition,” Dhavalikar said in his interim application.
The Monsoon Session of the State Assembly is summoned from July 15.
Meanwhile, Ajgaonkar and Pauskar are issued notices by Speaker Rajesh Patnekar to remain present before him on July 1. Dhavalikar, the petitioner, will be also heard on the same day.
