SSC exams to go ahead as scheduled

PANJIM:  While government has postponed examination of class IX, XI and XII in the wake of coronavirus pandemic till March 31, the board exams of Secondary School Certificate (SSC) will go ahead as per schedule from April 2.

Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant in a clarification issued on Saturday said that all those exams, which were to be held before March 31, are postponed. 

“However, the SSC exams, which are slated to commence from April 2, will go as per schedule,” he said adding that the decision on postponement of Board exam will be taken during a review meeting on March 28. 

Following directions from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, State government has postponed all the examinations beyond March 31 as a measure of social distancing. 

Meanwhile, in an order issued on Saturday, government has announced closer of Goa University, government and aided colleges from March 23 to March 31. 

Director of Higher Education Prasad Lolayekar in the order said that in view of the present Covid-19 outbreak, all educational institutions under the purview of director higher education, including Goa University, government and aided colleges will remain closed till March 31. 

“The teaching and non-teaching staffers are advised to work from home as per the requirement of the concerned institutions,” he said further. 

The Registrar of Goa University and the Principals of the colleges are directed to take necessary action.
