PANJIM: Imposing restrictions on transport services, State government on Saturday directed the licence holders of rent-a-bike and rent-a-car services to suspend their operations cum business till March 31 in view of coronavirus pandemic.
Government has also directed bus operators, including Kadamba Transport Corporation (KTC) and private bus owners to ensure that there is no overloading of passengers in view of advisory on social distancing.

Also, the stage carriage as well as contract carriage bus services are suspended from operation till Sunday midnight as a preventive measure against the spread of COVID-19 and in view of the Janta Curfew.
“All licence holders under Rent-A-Car Scheme and Rent A-Bike are directed to stop operating their business of renting cars/ scooters/ bikes from 00.00 hrs of March 22 to 24.00hrs of March 31,” the order, issued by Department of transport, reads.
“Transport services will be reduced to the bare minimum level, and all destinations will be connected by public bus services through an arranged skeleton service,” the order mentioned.
The operation will be strictly monitored by the Motor vehicle Inspector, who are assigned duties.
“Care will have to be taken to ensure that overcrowding of passengers does not take place in view of the advisory of social distancing and the bus drivers and conductors will compulsorily adhere to the advisory issued by the Ministry of Health, Government of Goa,” the order said.
The conductors and drivers are directed to wear face masks and use sanitizers to sanitize the hands of the general public while getting into their buses and daily disinfection of the buses will be carried out until such time the Government reviews the situation.
