PANJIM: Marching towards a ‘Green Zone’ declaration, Goa now has only one active COVID-19 case.
Health Minister Vishwajit Rane on Wednesday said that Goa’s active COVID-19 cases are down from two to one. “As per the guidelines, a repeat sample was tested and it reported negative,” Rane said. He said that they are hopeful that the State’s active cases will be zero by next week. The State had reported seven positive cases.
On Wednesday, one new person was placed under isolation at Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC).
As per the health bulletin, one new suspected COVID-19 patient was admitted in GMC, while no passengers were placed in home quarantined or under facility quarantine.
Of the 81 samples pending testing, 20 patients reported negative while 61 reports are awaited.
The North Goa district, which reported all the positive cases, is currently under the Red Zone, while South Goa is in the Green Zone.
Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant is on record to state that if Goa does not report any new positive cases by April 17, then the entire State will be a green zone.
