To commemorate Maratha warrior, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Goa government has organized a State level function at Farmagudi, Ponda on February 19.
Addressing media persons, Chief Minister Digambar Kamat said that the function would be organized by the Department of Information and publicity in association with Bandora panchayat.
“The State government in the past several years has been paying tribute to the memory of this great warrior. Besides this main function, we have also decided to celebrate the occasion at all eleven talukas,” Kamat said.
The government has constituted a state level Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti celebration committee headed by Kamat.
The function to be held at premises of Shree Ganapati Devasthan, Farmagudi will have dignitaries like chief minister, Home Minister Ravi Naik and Transport Minister Ramkrishna Dhawalikar.
The formal function would be followed by a monologue and quiz competitions based on life of Shivaji for school and college students.
As a part of this state level function, a drama ‘Shivba’ will be staged by Konkan Kala Academy at Kala Academy on February 17.
