PANJIM: Government sponsored 206 welfare and scholarship schemes of 24 departments went online on Friday to ensure their easy accessibility for everyone.
The Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant launched a unique ‘Know Your Scheme’ service, introduced by the Department of Information and Technology (IT) which will make every citizen aware about various benefits available under different welfare schemes and help them to apply online, based on the criteria they fit into.
Initially, there were 154 services available on www.goaonline.gov.in portal. As on Friday, under ‘Know Your Scheme’ service, which is a part of e-district programme, 206 services cum schemes were facilitated online. These services belongs to the departments of social welfare, women and child development, higher education, revenue, Rural development, handicraft, Health, etc.
“The service enables the citizens to identify all the schemes they are eligible for and subsequently they can apply for the same. It is one of the steps to take up all the schemes to the door step of the common man,” Sawant said while launching the programme.
Sawant said that the effort is to ensure that no citizen has to visit the concerned departments to apply for any welfare scheme. “It’s a complete hassle free process,” he said.
The Chief Minister said that the citizens, who are unable to access the online portal, can visit the Municipal or Village Panchayat office for assistance. He said that the directions have been issued to the local bodies to make sure that every eligible citizen takes benefit of the government scheme.
He said that there are also 72 citizen center services across Goa, which will also assist the citizens to know about the schemes and help them to apply.
“Our aim is to ensure 100 per cent implementation of social sector schemes. Every deserving person should get the benefit of the scheme. I even appeal the students from backward class, to come forward and take benefit of various scholarship or interest free loan schemes available for them,” Sawant said.
