SANGUEM: Stray cattle all along the Curchorem-Sanguem road, particularly at Cacora and Kharkhatiaghati, have become a major concern for vehicle riders.
The scenario is worst during afternoon hours when cattle herd is seen using the otherwise busy road to move places or just sit in the middle of the road.
Due to large number of cattle using the road, the vehicle riders are found negotiating on the wrong side in order to avoid the cattle ultimately running the risk of bumping into vehicles coming in opposite direction.
The situation is all the more worse during night time, when the riders fail to notice the cattle from a distance and fear incidents of meeting with accidents.
It is pertinent to note here that majority of the cattle found along this route are visitors to the garbage dump at Kharkhatiaghati. After feasting on the garbage at Kharkhatiaghati, the cattle use the busy Curchorem-Sanguem road to return to their resting places.
