PONDA: A stray dog allegedly went on a biting spree and attacked several residents, pedestrians, women and even students walking to the local high school at Keri-Ponda.
Locals have demanded immediate action to address the situation. The dog, otherwise sitting quietly on the road until provoked, suddenly becomes aggressive and bites unsuspecting passersby.
Panicked parents fear for the safety of their wards, as the students walking to the nearby high school have fallen victim to the dog’s vicious attacks. Several individuals bitten by the dog have been treated at the sub-district hospital in Ponda and had to be administered anti-rabies vaccines.
Efforts were made by concerned citizens who reported the incidents to the local panchayat office, prompting the panchayat to take action. In an attempt to address public safety concerns, the panchayat enlisted the services of a veterinarian from the animal husbandry department to treat the dog. However, the dog has continued to trouble the locals.
Meanwhile, no one has stepped forward to claim ownership of the dog, leaving authorities confused as to how to handle the situation. Locals have demanded an immediate solution to the problem for the safety of students and senior citizens.
