PANJIM: The students studying abroad and public are facing hardships in getting their documents attested for use in foreign countries in the absence of North Goa Additional Collector-II.
Both the District magistrates have been vested with authority to attest personal documents such as birth and death certificate, marriage certificate, residence certificate, passport, Aadhar Card, Portuguese translation and PCC certificates issued by different police stations, which the clients have to collect.

Many students studying in foreign Universities said that they had already submitted their documents in the North Goa Collectorate office, Panjim and also made the payments but for the last three weeks their documents are awaiting attestation. Also people seeking Portuguese citizenship have also submitted their documents. Many are making visits to the North Goa Collectorate office hoping that their documents will be attested.
The government is charging Rs 500 for attestation of one document while, in neighbouring Maharashtra such documents are attested free of cost, said one of the students.
Meanwhile, the North Goa Collectorate office has also stopped accepting documents in the evening.
