PANJIM: PWD Minister Ramkrishna (Sudin) Dhavalikar on Tuesday said that former Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar’s November 2016 decision to ban recruitments backfired on the BJP and MGP in the 2017 Assembly elections.
“Recruitment ban in November 2016 was a wrong decision of then Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar, it backfired on him and others in the election. Also, BJP and MGP lost seats due to this recruitment ban. I have only one question, why did Parsekar stop recruitments in November 2016? If he had not stopped recruitments at that time he would be in power today,” Dhavalikar said.
He added, “Instead of blaming this government on recruitment, why did the former CM stop recruitments? It was because of this decision that BJP stalwarts like Parsekar himself, (Dayanand) Mandrekar, (Subhash) Phaldesai and former MGP MLA Lavoo (Mamledar) lost the last Assembly elections. If Parsekar had not stopped these recruitments, we together could have got at least 26 to 27 seats.”
Stating that the new government has not stopped recruitment or cancelled any posts the minister said the government has carried forward the process and hundreds of people have been appointed.
