Congress leader Sunil Kawthankar has criticised the government for passing the state Budget without taking a vote on account, alleging procedural lapses and lack of adequate discussion in the Assembly.
Kawthankar further claimed that the Assembly session was curtailed, limiting deliberations on key issues, including Section 39A. He argued that this prevented a comprehensive debate on important matters concerning the state.

Questioning the government’s justification, he said citing the Model Code of Conduct was not valid, pointing out that legislative sessions are continuing in Maharashtra despite ongoing by-elections.
The Congress leader maintained that the government’s approach undermines democratic processes and called for greater transparency and accountability in legislative functioning.
