UTTA backs movement Calls on public to attend meeting in large numbers

MARGAO: The United Tribal Association Alliance (UTTA) has extended their support to the Save Mhadei movement and also appealed to the public to attend the meeting at Sanquelim on Monday in large numbers.

In a video message, UTTA President Prakash Velip stressed upon how grave the threat of water of River Mhadei getting diverted is and how it is imperative that the public comes together to prevent this from happening.

Velip, who added that it is time for all to keep their political differences aside and be united for this movement to protect the mother of Goa and lifeline of the State, River Mhadei.

He further added that the Central government should withdraw the approval granted to the Karnataka for its detailed project report (DPR) on Mhadei.

Velip also encouraged the farming community and others from different occupations to stand up and join the fight to save Mhadei.

UTTA President pointed out that their members too have held deliberations on this issue in various talukas and that besides the scheduled meeting in Sanquelim, the movement should continue thereafter too until the demands of the State of Goa with respect to Mhadei are met.
