No sooner news that Congress had denied a ticket to Vijai Sardessai spread, his supporters came rushing to his residence at Davondem.
His close friends in the Congress, Alexio Sequeira and Joaquim Alemao were also closeted with the GPCC general secretary.
Alexio Sequiera later told newsmen that Vijai is his friend and that he is sad for him. However, he added that as a loyal Congressman he respects the views of the High Command.
Both Alexio and Joaquim left Sardessai’s residence after the meeting of his supporters got underway, where the Congress came under severe criticism over a host of issues, including family raj, corruption et al.
