PONDA: A suspected dengue case is reported to have claimed the life of a 17-year-old girl from Nagzar, Curti on Monday.
The girl’s family members and the local panch have suspected that she succumbed to dengue as she had fever for the past few days.
However, the doctors at the Ponda Primary Health Centre (PHC) housed in the Ponda Sub District Hospital said the exact cause of death is yet to be ascertained as the report will be released on Friday.
Panch Dadi Naik said, “The girl complained of fever and vomiting following which she was admitted to PHC on Sunday evening. As her condition deteriorated, she was shifted to Goa Medical College and Hospital at Bambolim where she succumbed on Monday morning. She was a college student.”
The PHC doctors said the exact cause of death is not yet ascertained. GMC will release the report in next couple of days.
The PHC doctors said the girl had fever and her blood pressure was low when she was admitted.
It is learnt that the girl’s grandfather died five days ago.
Following her death, the Health Department team carried out fogging operations at Nagzar, Curti.
