VASCO: The Vasco police on Thursday booked a suspended police constable for duping an elderly couple Rs 33 lakh. According to the police, the victim couple who are supplying tiffins to the people and are living on the earnings of tiffin supply complained that suspended police constable Moinuddin Khwaja on pretext of investing their savings in gold business with a promise to give them double profit, taken Rs 33 lakh from them.
However, even two years after taking the money, Khaja failed to return both the principle amount and ‘profit’. “Khaja is known to be notorious and he even has deserted the State. An offence under Section 406 and 420 has been registered against him and police are on a lookout for him,” informed Vasco DySP Sunita Sawant.
