MARGAO: Suspense continues over the delay by the South Goa Administrator of Comunidades in deciding the fate of the illegal hutments atop the Moti Dongor hillock and adjoining Talsanzor.
Inquiries with the office of the Comunidade Administrator revealed that the order is yet to be pronounced in the case, more than one month since the Administrator Sangeeta Naik had completed the hearings.
It was on June 25 last that the Comunidade Administrator had finished the hearings on the illegal structures, with Ms Naik maintaining that she would pronounce the final order within a fortnight.
It’s more than a month now and the sword of Damocles continues to hang on the illegal structures on both Moti Dongor and Talsanzor.
The Administrator had promised to pronounce her order last week, but later maintained that it would be done this week. With just two working days of this week to go, suspense continues whether the order would come this week or will it be pronounced in the coming week.
When contacted, the Attorney of Aquem and Margao Comunidades Celestin Norohna said the delay could be on account of the tedious nature of the job. “Since it is a huge exercise, it might have consumed some time. But we expect the Comunidade Administrator to pass the order at the earliest,” he said.
Both the Margao and Aquem Comunidades have called for the demolition of the illegal hutments, even as the inhabitants have prayed to the Administrator and the government for their regularisation. They have also petitioned the deputy chief minister.
