MAPUSA: Swapnil Chodankar was elected unopposed as the new sarpanch of Penha de Franca Panchayat.
The Sarpanch’s post had fallen vacant following the resignation of Gurunath Vernekar. The Block Development Officer, Mapusa convened a special meeting in the panchayat office on Wednesday to elect the new sarpanch. Observer Manohar Parwar presided over the election process.
Since only Chodankar had filed nomination for the post, Parwar declared him as elected unopposed.
