PERNEM: Swati Toraskar was elected unopposed as the new sarpanch of Torxem village panchayat.
A special meeting was called in the office of the panchayat to conduct the election and since Swati Toraskar was the only one to file her nomination for the post, the presiding officer Bhiva Thakur declared Toraskar elected unopposed.
The post of Sarpanch was vacant after the then sarpanch Prarthana Mote had tendered her resignation on July 23 to pave way for the next sarpanch as per mutual understanding among the elected members.
