MARGAO: Congress MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco has taken strong exception to South Western Railways Manager Ajay Kumar Singh for calling Cortalim MLA Alina Saldanha as “Portuguese” because she was opposing the double tracking of the railway track.
He pointed out that the people from the area were always opposed to widening of the railway track as it would lead to destruction of ecology and heritage.
He pointed out that the existing single track itself is a bane as it transports coal to Karnataka thus causing air and dust pollution.
While admitting that Ajay Kumar is completely ignorant about the rich heritage and culture of Goa particularly the comunidade system, Aleixo expressed surprise that Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant has allowed his colleague to be called “Portuguese”.
