PANJIM: Just hours after Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar ruled out banning the Sanatan Sanstha, the opposition Congress urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to declare the rightwing Hindu outfit a ‘terrorist’ organization, for its alleged involvement in the murder of Communist party leader and writer Govind Pansare and in the 2009 Margao blast.
Congress general secretary Sunil Kawthankar, in a letter addressed to the Prime Minister, the Union Home Minister and Chief Minister, said that the failure of the Union and State governments to ban the organization’s activities will prove that the government is shielding and nurturing a terrorist organization, threatening national interest.
“It is high time the government both at the National level as well as at State level declare Sanatan Sanstha, a terrorist organization denouncing all their activities and imposing a complete ban on all its operations across the country,” the letter says.
He demanded that their Ramnathi, Ponda Ashram be immediately shut and all their assets, including bank accounts, be frozen and also seeks a probe in their source of funding.
“The assassination of Pansare and Dr Narendra Dabholkar, Margao bomb blast in 2009 and 2008 bomb blast in Thane, has involvement of members associated with Sanatan Sanstha,” Kawthankar said addressing the media on Wednesday.
Kawthankar alleged that it is proven fact that the right wing outfit is using criminal force and means to propagate their policies and silence the voice of thinkers and scholars who dare to challenge their ideologies.
