VASCO: The Junior Engineer Vishwanath Bhat who was “shot” accepting bribe from a Quelossim resident has been placed under suspension by the Electricity department on Friday.
Bhat, apparently, was harassing the person who had come to him seeking electricity connection for his home.
It may be recalled that after a Youtube video which showed Bhat demanding bribe from one Makbul Jawli went viral, the electricity department initiated an inquiry against the officer who is also booked by the Anti-Corruption Bureau of Goa police.
According to Executive Engineer Vasco, Sivasankaran K, Bhat has been suspended pending inquiry against him after he was “caught” demanding bribe from the complainant.
“Today we received the communication from the head office that JE Bhat has been suspended pending inquiry against him. Following this, we have also sent the copy of the order to the Cortalim office and have also appointed another Junior Engineer to look after Cortalim area” he told.
