NEW DELHI: Sixty per cent work on the Rs 517-crore worth Mandovi bridge on the NH 17 has been completed and the target for completing the work is May 31, 2018, the Rajya Sabha has been informed. The bridge is financed by the Goa government.
There is, however, hardly any progress in the Rs 936-crore Zuari bridge as only 1% construction is achieved while the target date is November 23, 2019. The progress is 36% in case of the Talpona, Galgibaga and Maxem bridges as part of the Canacona bypass worth Rs 280.16 crore, with the target date for completion being December 6 this year.
Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Mansukh Mandaviya admitted very little progress in the construction of the 504-km long Goa-Mumbai highway.
with only 57.50 km of bituminous road laid between Panvel and Indapur and between Zarap and Patradevi sections.
The cement concrete road is proposed on the remaining part of the highway as the new 4-lane or 2-lane carriageway while bituminous road is proposed wherever existing 2-lane carriageway is retained, disclosed Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha to a question by Congress MP Shantaram Naik.
