7 Calangute losing candidates seek disqualification of panchas

PANJIM: Seven of the defeated candidates of the Calangute panchayat belonging to the Joseph Sequeira camp have filed disqualification petitions against seven elected panch members from Michael Lobo’s panel.

PANJIM: Seven of the defeated candidates of the Calangute panchayat belonging to the Joseph Sequeira camp have filed disqualification petitions against seven elected panch members from Michael Lobo’s panel.
All the seven candidates have filed the petitions at the Goa Administrative Tribunal under Section 16 of Goa Panchayat Raj Act 1994. 
Speaking to Herald Joseph Sequeira, former strongman of Calangute village panchayat said that all the members have filed the petition on almost the same ground of delimitation process of the wards. The petitioners have challenged the delimitation of wards process conducted by the Director of Panchayats prior to the elections. 
Sequeira said that most of the wards have been illegally altered for undue benefit of Lobo’s panel who is in the ruling party in Goa.
The seven wards include Ward V where Pratiksha Udai Arolkar has filed a petition against Pooja Nitin Matkar, Ward IV where Savio Joseph Mario Maria Deliciosa Gonsalves filed a petition against Anthony Alex Menezes, Ward II where Karishma Vinayak Salgaonkar filed a petition against Rupa Chandrakant Chodankar, Ward I where Fatima Silvina Matias D’Souza filed a petition against Cheryl Vilanova Lobo, Ward VII where Joseph Robert Sequeira filed a petition against Francisco Antonio Rodrigues, Ward X where Anny Eduardo e a Coelho Fernandes filed a petition against Shawn B J S Francis Martin and Ward IX where Reshma D Kalangutkar filed a petition against Dinesh Suresh Simepurushkar.
