CANACONA: A man from Canacona has been booked on charges of abusing and threatening to kill Canacona MLA and Sports Minister Ramesh Tawadkar.
According to police sources, Tawadkar filed the complaint with Canacona police stating that the incident took place on Sunday, when the accused hurled caste-based abuses and also threatened to kill him.
The offences have been registered under Section 506 (2) IPC and Section 3 (1) of Schedule Tribes and Schedule Castes Prevention of Atrocities Act.
Since the complaint falls under the ambit of atrocities on ST and SC, Quepem DySP Subhash Goltekar has taken over the case and is conducting further investigation.
Following the complaint, the accused has reportedly gone underground and is reported to have moved an application for anticipatory bail before a court.
