Wilbur Ticlo enquired whether the panchayat is getting any share of the Infrastructure tax collected by TCP at the time of issuing technical clearance to the builders in respect of housing projects at Socorro.
The panchayat secretary, Chetan Shirodker replied in the negative and stated that they had written to TCP on May 20, to pass on some portion of the tax to them to enable them to carry out developmental works. TCP has replied that tax collected under Head ‘Goa Infrastructure Tax’ is directly deposited by the parties into government treasury which forms part of the tax kitty of the government.
The government utilizes this tax revenue along with other tax revenue for development of various infrastructure across the State, the panchayat was informed.
Ticlo sought to know whether panchayat has given permission to kiosks by the side of the national highway near Ashwin garage. The secretary mentioned that panchayat has given permission for ‘movable kiosks.’ Ticlo brought to the notice of the panchayat that all the aforesaid ghadas have become permanent kiosks and not movable. The panchayat should not allow fixed kiosks at the junctions and instead the panchayat should acquire some land and create food park and shift all these kiosks at one place suggested Ticlo.
Joshua D’Mello and Lovo Dalgado mentioned that vehicles parked in front of Hyundai car showroom and Damian De Goa create obstruction to the smooth movement of traffic. Hence the said areas should be made as No Parking Zone.
The issues of cattle menace, cleaning of gutters and cutting of bushes, digging of roads were also discussed.
