It urged other transporters in Calangute to support the All India Strike on September 2.
At a press conference in Calangute, NGTTOA criticized the Centre for its unfulfilled promise of ‘Acche Din’ and urged people to support to forcibly bring Ache Din by joining the strike.
Adv Suhas Naik said, “The Centre is fooling Indians by collaborating with multi-national companies. A classic example of this is the Road Transport Safety Bill, which is likely to create problems while claiming insurance in case of accidents.
Furthermore, the FDI Bill will deprive small and marginal business owners of their daily earnings, while the Land Acquisition Bill 2015 will literally rob farmers of their agricultural land. We are not against the Centre and State governments, but against the anti-people policies of the government. I urge the Calangute locals to support the strike.”
All India Trade Union Congress general secretary Christopher Fonseca said, “We forced the UPA-led Congress government to bring a Land Bill, but today the BJP government is trying to misuse it. The Centre plans to finish the common man by bringing in multi-national companies and giving them our land. In Goa, the government is trying to start ferry services through Mormugao Port Trust in collaboration with Drishti Services to give a backdoor entry to MNCs at the expense of the common man. Ferry services have been with the River Navigation Department since the Portuguese rule, but the BJP government wants to privatize the same.”
He continued, “The Prime Minister had assured to bring back black money and share it with the common man, but till today there is not even a single penny in the aam aadmi’s bank account.”
All Goa Bus Owners Association general secretary Sudeep Tamankar further charged the government of forcing on the common man the high security registration plates.
